Rural gardens offer tremendous opportunities to connect the private space with the surrounding countryside.

One of the great features of this garden near Romsey, is the expansive open spaces. Wildflower meadows have been sown, extensive tree planting undertaken and langourous paths established to echo the shapes of the surrounding horizon line, fields and woodland.

“We couldn’t be happier. You really listened to us and came up with the solutions. We can’t wait for the meadows, borders and trees to get establised” Mr & Mrs Q.

The owners loved the sense of being open to the countryside and the views over the downs near Alresford. Unfortunately trees had been planted up the middle of the garden, the pond cut the garden in half and there was a dangerous drop from the edge of the pool down to the lawn.

"Fantastic; it is so much more open and usable now; my grandchildren love the slope and charge around safely. Their Mums are much happier too!" Mrs T.

The existing garden near Alredford had panoramic views of the chalk stream valley but contained ill-fitting features inherited from the time it was the village hall. The client took up the design suggestion to use the spoil from the extension footings to build up the lawn area and so hide the crude metal boundary railings. Borders and paved areas were shaped to echo the local meandering waterways.

"The design of the garden is innovative and extremely sympathetic with it's position in the landscape. We like the whole ambiance. The use of sinuous curves are very clever. We would certainly recommend you to others though the garden says it all". Mr & Mrs F.
